How convertible cribs are better, in so many ways.
Kids growing/not growing up.
Kids like to grow up. They are told pretty much from birth “Look how big you are!” So growing up is a good thing, they’ve been told.
But they also don’t want to grow up. Things are constantly changing for them. They grow like weeds. They have to compensate all the time for their new height and new abilities. Their favorite toys become “baby-fied”. They hear “You’re told old for that” .
They’d really like to have something that stays with them. That doesn’t become too young or is too old for them. Just one thing, maybe, that’s just right.
That could be their bed.
Children who have a convertible crib can have the feeling of continuation. It’s something they don’t have to give up because they’re too old. If they watch the conversion from crib to bed, they realize that it may look a little different, but it’s still the same bed that they’ve always known.
Comforting for them, don’t you think?
